1981 Alfa Romeo Alfa 6 25 V6 AT

Alfa Romeo Alfa 6 25 V6 AT

Just nothing like it.....
Bought for the grand sum of R5000 from her original owner of 19 years in 2000, this beauty would have been a trade in on a brand new 147 1.6 had the loving owner not kept my business card for two years. I can only imagine had I not grabbed her, she most likely would have had a Gratina (Cortina/Granada) drie liter implant by now, or could have been yet another casualty of a non-comprehendo owner intent on breaking this regal lady apart for spares. The only thing that no longer does what it should on this car, and only cuz I couldnt be bothered to fiddle, is the height adjustable headlights. Short bursts on a highway still prove 191km/h at 6200rpm is achievable 27 years after Ramsay Son and Parker proved it, and mountain passes are still handled with aplomb, her 195/70/14 Pirellis the only thing taking audible strain. Amazing to realise she was the first Alfa to carry the 2.5 V6. This is one of my everyday cars, she starts like clockwork, come rain or shine, and is comfortable being driven in a spirited fashion. This is a serious reminder of what old world luxury was, and really does deserve more credit than awarded her by many an ignorant Alfista.
