1974 MG B GT

Last year of the chrome bumper models. This car was purchased in Cape Town and had been standing in a garden, with the handbrake left on, for something like 12 years. Fortunately the rust was on the bonnet, and lower sills, unlike a U.K. driven car that rusts from the underside upwards. All rust was cut out and plated. The bonnet and lower sills were replaced and the car resprayed in white. The engine required little work apart from sorting out the wiring and after squirting copious quantity of diesel fuel down the plug holes, the engine was first turned by hand and then started. All the brakes were reconditioned and a new clutch fitted.
