Chevrolet took the sales lead from Ford because of the Chevrolet 2 door sedan. Almost a 1/4 million of these were produced in 36, the final year of the model run. Riding on a comfortable wheelbase along with running boards and split windshields, these cars sport a cool profile. It is also refreshing to see one that hasnt been turned into a street rod.

Our 36 benefited from a cosmetic restoration in 06 and has been sparingly used and carefully preserved since that time. The black paint remains in excellent shape and holds a deep reflection. We all know how difficult the care of a dark paint can be but when it is applied correctly and maintained properly, there is nothing better. Likewise the chrome, glass and painted wheels all present in very good condition. The running boards normally come just two ways, just refinished or all chewed up. Our 36 had vinyl runners fitted to the running boards during the restoration and they have served and protected the Chevy well. Pull open the drivers door and slip inside. Here again, nicely restored everywhere you look. The tan fabric seats, door panels and headliner are in excellent condition. With the exception of the non-functioning horn and an out of calibration speedometer, the fuel, amperage, oil and water temperature gauge, fan and controls (throttle, lights, choke), work as expected. Remember, this car was equipped with just one tail light from the factory and no turn signals so if you are planning on enjoying the 36 on the roads, you might want to add those modern-day safety features.

The 6 cylinder engine generates 79HP, which was the largest engine Chevrolet ever equipped on this model. The engine starts right up and the three speed manual on the floor shifts easily. The 36 has drum brakes all around and stops without hesitation. There is also a matching spare tire in the trunk, ready if needed. The undercarriage images display this car as an honest and dependable antique that will provide its next owner with many happy Sunday afternoon outings. Give us a call to put this 36 in your driveway.
