1968 Citroen DS 20

Citroen DS 20

Never before were so many innovations united in one model as in the Citroen DS which was presented in Paris in 1955. The suspension was the most important part: instead of a conventional one Citroens engineers used hydraulic, self-regulating, hydro-pneumatic shock-absorbing struts with a unique, adjustable level-control. With this the DS was able to lift its chassis and manage difficult terrain as well. This car was ahead of its time by at least a decade, maybe even two. People marvelled at it. To the general public it looked like a spaceship. The driving comfort of the DS 20 still remains unbeatable. The shark-like shape of the DS hardly changed in the course of 20 years. By now this car has become an object of automobile art. The spacious interior of the DS is futuristically styled to match its exterior. The gear lever sits on the steering column, and the seats are soft and totally luxurious.
